MAO

MAO enzyme is an abbreviation for monoamine oxidase enzyme, which is a family of enzymes that oxidize monoamines. Monoamines are molecules that have a single amine group, such as dopamine, serotonin, and norepinephrine. These molecules act as neurotransmitters in the brain and other parts of the body. MAO enzymes are found attached to the outer membrane of mitochondria, the organelles that produce energy for cells. There are two types of MAO enzymes: MAO-A and MAO-B, which have different preferences for the substrates they act on. MAO enzymes play a role in regulating the levels of monoamines and their effects on mood, cognition, and behavior. MAO enzymes can also break down monoamines from food sources, such as cheese and wine.

Our MAO A-B product assist both the MAO-A and MAO-B enzymes, assisting the body in regulating the levels of monoamines and their effects on mood, cognition and behavior, as well as breaking down monoamines from food.*
